Gluv Footwear is part of the William Lamb Group who has successfully been supplying shoes since the 19th Century. William Lamb Footwear was founded in 1887 manufacturing clogs for the West Riding Woollen Mills. In the 1950s William Lamb Group specialized in football boots and the 1970s saw a massive expansion into training shoes. In 1982 the Gola brand was acquired and this was used as a vehicle into the provision of sportswear, which was predominantly of Far East origin. The Gola brand was sold in 1990. Since the late 1990s all production has been undertaken overseas. William Lamb Group is a member of the Ethical Trading Initiative and has offices in China, Vietnam, Thailand and Laos. William Lamb Group employs 100 people in the UK and has a similar number in the Far East offices. They also import footwear from Portugal, Spain and Italy.
